Clear Episode 2 to unlock Episode 3. In Ratatan, unlocking Episode 3 means finishing the Dark Ratatan story progression, then raising your Oath Level for the next episode. Your episode selector and story collection progress are at the Bonboya Gate in Rataport.
How Do You Unlock Ratatan Chapter 3?
Finish Episode 2's battles, events, and Key Item collection to reach its clear scene, then move on to Episode 3. If you call it Ratatan chapter 3, look for Episode 3 in the game’s episode selection.
Finish your first adventure
Clear Episode 1 by completing World 5 for the first time. That opens the route into Episode 2; your first World 5 clear is an earlier milestone, rather than the end of Episode 2's story.
Enter Episode 2
Set the Oath Level in Goddess Games to 1 or higher. After clearing Episode 1, you can find the episode selection UI above the Bonboya Gate in Rataport.
Complete the Dark Ratatan progression
Continue Episode 2's battles and events, collecting the Key Items needed to reach the Episode 2 clear scene. Dark Ratatan encounters during Intervals are part of this progression, so pay attention to those events as well as boss victories.
Raise the Oath Level for Episode 3
Increase the Oath Level for the next episode and use the selector at the Bonboya Gate. Raising the setting does not replace clearing Episode 2.
What Oath Level Do You Need for Episode 3?
You need Oath Level 2 or higher for Episode 3. The official FAQ sets Episode 2 at Oath Level 1 and says you raise the Oath Level by 1 for each next episode, so Episode 3 needs 2 and Episode 4 needs 3.
| Progression point | What you need |
|---|---|
| Enter Episode 2 | Clear Episode 1 through World 5 and set Oath Level to 1 or higher |
| Unlock Episode 3 | Clear Episode 2's story progression |
| Enter Episode 3 | Oath Level 2 or higher |
| Enter Episode 4 | Clear Episode 3 and set Oath Level to 3 or higher |
Treat story progress and Oath Level as separate checks. If you have raised the level but are still working through Dark Ratatan events, keep progressing those events. A higher setting alone does not finish the chapter for you.
If repeated defeats are slowing you down, prioritize adventure upgrades at the Ratatan Dock and Support Desk, and equip stronger weapons as you obtain them. For command practice before another attempt, see Ratatan how to play.
Where Do You Check Episode 2 Key Items?
Check the upper part of the Bonboya Gate in Rataport, where collected Key Items are slotted into the gate. These story items do not appear in your Inventory, so searching your equipment and item lists will not show this collection.
Dark Ratatan appear during Intervals and trigger events. As you advance those events, they begin appearing as bosses. That is why simply completing another combat run is not the whole objective: battles, encounters, and story collection work together toward the Episode 2 clear scene.
Keep the gate's collection display separate from the episode selector above it. The collection represents story progress; the selector is where you switch episodes. For the enemies involved in that progression, see Ratatan bosses.
Why Is Episode 3 Locked When All Melodies Look Collected?
A melody display bug can make the Bonboya Gate look complete even when you have not met the required Dark Ratatan encounter counts. As of October 16, 2026, this could leave you unable to enter Episode 3 despite apparently having every melody.
A filled melody display can be misleading. As of October 16, 2026, the game also provides no way to check which Dark Ratatan encounter requirement you are still missing.
If this is what you are seeing, distinguish the gate's appearance from reaching the Episode 2 clear scene. The misleading display concerns encounter progress, so changing your Oath setting alone should not be treated as a cure for it. Keep the normal story requirements in mind rather than assuming the gate's appearance means every encounter condition is complete.
What Opens After You Unlock Episode 3?
Episode 3 opens the next stretch of the story, including further Dark Ratatan boss battles and new items used mainly for Mythic weapon limit breaks. Materials for those limit breaks become available from Episode 3 onward as Goddess Games rewards for defeating world bosses and mid-bosses.
The progression tutorials for Episodes 3 and 4 are added to Help after they appear, giving you an in-game place to revisit their instructions. Clearing Episode 3 then unlocks Episode 4, where the story's final boss awaits. Once you are through the gate, continue toward the Ratatan ending.
