What is the Ratatan full release date on PC and consoles?

The full release went live at the same moment on every platform: October 14, 2026 in the Americas and Europe, and October 15 in Tokyo and Seoul. The official date is October 15, 2026; Steam and the US PlayStation and Nintendo stores show October 14.

If you have seen July 16, 2026, that was the earlier plan announced on March 3, 2026. The June 25, 2026 announcement moved every version, Switch 2 included, to October 15. Some Japanese retail listings still showed July 16 for a while; ignore them.

When was the Ratatan Early Access release date on Steam?

Ratatan entered Steam Early Access on September 18, 2025 in the Americas and Europe, and at 00:00 on September 19, 2025 in Tokyo and Seoul. The original July 25, 2025 plan was postponed on July 4, 2025, and the August 14, 2025 announcement set the September launch.

Is Ratatan on Switch, PS5, Xbox and PC?

Yes for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). The original Nintendo Switch cannot run the current release, so a Switch 2 copy will not work on a Switch 1.

The original Switch version was put on hold on March 3, 2026 because its multiplayer fell short of the intended quality. The official FAQ lists it, along with a GOG version, as in preparation, so it has not been cancelled.

On Xbox, the Store also offers cloud play with Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate, but you still need to buy the game. Save data cannot move between platforms, so pick the one you plan to stay on. If you are buying to play with friends, check Ratatan multiplayer first: co-op needs each platform's online subscription and there is no local co-op on one system.

What do the Ratatan physical editions cost and include?

The PS5 copy is a disc in a blue case with the Ratatan logo and PS5 branding.

The Switch 2 copy is a game card with the full game data on it, not a game-key card, so you don't need to download the game to play.

Early copies include a bonus code for the Legendary Weapon "Spirit Sword Banbansord" (英霊刀 バンバンソード), which Soldier Cobun can equip. One Day One Edition unboxing also found codes for equipment, accessories, Cobun and supplies. Read the exact box contents before ordering an import, since the Japanese Deluxe sets (特殊武器＆アクセサリーセット, コブンセット, 育成素材セット) are a different bundle from the sword bonus. Bonuses land in your inventory when you launch the game, with a notice on the title screen; if you bought them while playing, restart the game.

In the US, Target listed the Switch 2 edition at $39.99 on October 17, 2026, and Walmart also carries "Ratatan - Nintendo Switch 2 Game." Check that the listing says Nintendo Switch 2 and not another platform.

How does Ratatan run on Switch 2?

Docked play runs well; handheld is less consistent in busy late stages. An October 13, 2026 review called handheld smooth and docked strong, while an October 12, 2026 review saw handheld frame-rate drops in late stages full of units and effects, which made perfect rhythm inputs harder.

If precise timing matters most to you, play docked for late stages. Switch 2 supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes. If your inputs feel off, open Options → Audio → Calibration to adjust timing compensation; that fixes input timing, not frame rate. To update the game, highlight Ratatan on the HOME Menu, press +, then choose Software Update → Via the Internet.

Do Ratatan Early Access owners need to buy the full release again?

No. If you own Ratatan on Steam from Early Access, the full release is free and your save carries over.
